When I was just a few months pregnant with my sweet Solomon, people always complemented me on my natural healthy glow. Everything changes after pregnancy and your entire body seems to go haywire! My hair especially (As I talked about in my previous post) and skin have unfortunately taken a dire turn, smh.
Now, I am absolutely no skin care or makeup professional, but I have been really into the dewy skin finish lately, and have hopped on to the strobbing wagon, late I know, but just in time to make up for my newly found extremely dry and cracked skin. Thanks post-partum!
So I thought I'd do a fun post on how what I have been using to achieve that "Pregnancy glow" without well, actually having a bun in the oven (yet).
I do wear a full face everyday for work, so I was glad I found Neutrogena Ultra Light Cleansing Oil. Using cleansing oils has really been on trend lately, and there are plenty of pricey options out there, but I am really satisfied with this gentle inexpensive drug store option. I apply about 5 pumps of the oil on dry skin and then lather it with a little water. It is great to remove makeup without completely stripping the skin of the natural oils needed for that healthy glow.
Exfoliating once or twice a week is still healthy, even for the driest of skin. I use St.Ives Nourished and Smooth Oatmeal Scrub and Mask. A small amount goes a long way and really reveals soft skin underneath the dead skin build up. Another drug store product for the win!
Since glowing skin is really about enhancing your natural complexion and achieving healthy shine, we cannot forget to moisturize. Im currently using Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream for Extra-Dry Skin. It goes on like a soft cooling gel and really does keep my face moisturized all day.
I was recommended the Pixie Beauty Primer by my fave makeup guru, SimplySona (love her!). It was one of her top drug store products, and ended up being exactly what I needed. I apply it all over the sides of my face, avoid the center of the forehead, nose, and chin. It gives me a subtle dewy finish that doesn't have an oily feel or look.
There are many awesome highlighters out there, and I am not one to really splurge, but everyone was raving about the Becca highlighter in Champagne Pop on Youtube, so I budged! It is really one of those staple makeup items. Plus, it’s totally ok to splurge every once in awhile :).
Other tips to achieving the glow is by using all cream products such as a BB Cream or a cream blush. I also use a matte or satin lipstick to really enhance the bright and glowy skin finish.
