March is Pregnancy after loss awareness month and PAL hosted an online photo challenge to raise awareness and bring hope to a community of mothers who often feel so alone.
Pregnancy After Loss Support (PALS) serves the mom who is navigating the difficult journey of pregnancy after loss. At PALS we believe pregnancy after loss encompasses the time period from trying to conceive (TTC) after a loss, during the subsequent pregnancy. PALS’s services include an online magazine of articles written by both healthcare professionals and women who have also experienced PAL, peer-to-peer support through a Facebook forum of nine moderated support groups and a mentor program, and a collection of resources for both the PAL mom and the professionals treating the PAL mom. pregnancyafterlosssupport.com
Im so thankful for online resources and the community I found in PAL. It has been so healing being able to share my journey with other TTC Loss moms and exchange questions and concerns about this crazy journey. It also brings me so much hope every week to see the mothers holding their rainbow babies... knowing one day that is going to be me!!
Heres a look through my photos from the challenge :)
Monday, March 14th – Loss/Baby that died. We are on this journey because of the one(s) we lost. Share an image of the baby who died or something that you associate with your loss.
"Today is day one of the March #PALAwareness week photo challenge. ➡️ I love these pictures of me, my husband and our seed of love who is now in heaven. 💙 My heart goes out to the other mommies whom have also experience loss in the worst way. Thanks to @pregnancyafterlosssupport we can support each other even through social media."
Tuesday, March 15th – Courageous Mama. “I am a courageous mama because…” Take a photo of yourself, brave mama, and tell us why you are a courageous mama!
"Day 2 of the #PALAwareness photo challenge. ➡️ I am a courageous mama because I want to be fit and healthy for my #PAL ! Working out does not come easy for me (eating junk food does) but every time I get on my elliptical (located in my office please don't mind the mess) I know I'm doing the best for me and Solomon's future little brother or sister 🙏🏼💙🌸 @pregnancyafterlosssupport"
Wednesday, March 16th – Trying to Conceive. Share an image that portrays how long you tried to conceive your rainbow, or if you’re still TTC, how long you’ve been trying.
"Day 3 of #PALAwarenessphoto challenge. Husband and I ttc for a few months after Solomon passed. Currently taking a break and hoping to start back up soon. We are hopeful! Baby dust to the other PAL mommies trying this month 😗😙💜 Every day we are a day closer! @pregnancyafterlosssupport#maytheoddsbeforeverinyourfavor"
Thursday, March 17th – “Today I feel ________.” How are you feeling today, Mama? Do you feel joy, grief, fear, anxiety, excitement, hope, depression, or any other emotions? Share honestly, so we can spread awareness about the many emotions of PAL.
"Day 4 of the #PALAwareness photo day challenge. Today I feel thankful. Even though I have my days when I'm down, there are always many things to be thankful for... my husband, my family, my home, my job, my health, and the list can go on. Other than thankful, I'm hopeful for brighter days with a #PAL 💙👶🏻. @pregnancyafterlosssupportP.S. This photo of me and this street dog in Peru has nothing to do with the challenge, but isn't he freakin' cute!? 😻"
Saturday, March 19th – What I want you to know about PAL. Download and print our “What I want you to know about PAL” sign, and write a message to the world. What is the most important thing you want to be heard about PAL Awareness? Take a selfie with the sign, and share. We can’t wait to hear what you all say!
"Day 6 of the #PALAwareness photo challenge. Didn't get a chance to print out the sign, but what I want you to know about #PAL is that though this is the hardest season of my life I can smile today because I have chosen to be happy. I rejoice in knowing God's plan's for me are better than my own. 🌸 @pregnancyafterlosssupport P.S. This Snapchat filt has given me a nose job and I'm not even mad. 🙃"
Sunday, March 20th – Purple for PALS. Purple is the color of courage, and we ARE courageous mamas! Wear purple, put purple on your Rainbow Baby, or make purple pancakes. Share a photo with purple in your day, and we’ll spread awareness about PAL for all of our courageous mamas!
I don't share my photos for attention, and I sure don't mean to scare anyone with what so happened to become my reality. being a childless mother isn't easy. I share my story and photos with much affection. Sharing helps me heal and connect with other mommies of all walks of life 💙.
